Brand consistency at scale is an architecture problem. Policy documents help, but structure is what actually holds the line.
Make consistency structural
When every page assembles from the same governed components, consistency is the default outcome rather than a review task.
Define what is local
Decide explicitly which fields franchisees own: contact details, hours, staff, service areas, local offers and photos. Everything else stays with corporate.
- Explicit local field list
- Role-based permissions
- Optional approval workflow
Give franchisees usable tools
Most brand drift comes from operators trying to solve a real local need without an approved way to do it. Approved local modules remove the incentive to go off-brand.
Audit on a schedule
Review location pages quarterly for content completeness, accuracy and performance, and treat recurring gaps as a template problem rather than a compliance problem.
